The best time to travel
Pelo is located right next to an impressive floodplain in the heart of the Okavango Delta, an ideal habitat for the sitatunga and the otherwise hard-to-spot sitatunga. Hippos and crocodiles are also regularly sighted here. During the dry season, red lechwes, impalas, and elephants are predominant, and lions, leopards, and buffalos are occasionally seen. The region's birdlife is particularly impressive with its extraordinary diversity. Here, you can find the largest concentrations of the endangered wattled crane, as well as slaty egret, rosy-throated longclaw, African skimmer, and Pel’s fishing owl.
As a water camp, Pelo primarily offers excellently guided boat tours and mokoro rides. On request and with prior reservation, walking safaris through the species-rich depths of the Jao concession can also be conducted.
