The best time to travel
The Nxamaseri Island Lodge is known for its excellent year-round fishing opportunities and is featured in several specialist books. In addition to the robust tigerfish, various other species, including some magnificent bream and catfish, can be caught on the line. An adventurous and unforgettable fishing excursion at Nxamaseri Island Lodge is almost guaranteed.
The winter months, from April to August, typically prove to be the best time for bream fishing. The prime time for tigerfishing generally spans from late August to early November but can vary slightly. However, even outside of these months, Nxamaseri Island Lodge still offers excellent fishing conditions. With lower water levels here, underwater life concentrates around the permanent channels, showcasing a wide variety of species.
Nxamaseri Island Lodge offers a range of specialized fly-fishing guides and fully equipped boats. Special arrangements can also be made should additional boats be needed for fly fishing. There are standard lures and basic fly-fishing gear available. However, passionate fly fishermen are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
In addition to mokoro and motorboat trips for anglers and non-anglers alike, where you can admire not only the rich birdlife but also animals like hippos, crocodiles, and antelopes, day trips to the famous Tsodilo Hills are also offered. Here, guests can admire millennia-old "rock paintings" by the San in the typical dry Kalahari environment – a world away from the lush greenery and fertile waterways of Nxamaseri.
