The most important facts at a glance
Each of the nine guest tents measures an impressive 270 square meters and includes both indoor and outdoor areas. The interiors are stylishly and lavishly furnished. Wood-burning Morso stoves provide pleasant warmth in the cool evenings and mornings, while a ceiling fan above the beds offers refreshment during the hot seasons. The attached bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers, and each veranda has its own private plunge pool.
The generously sized central area of the camp includes a dining area with a large table, a library, an antique billiards table, a well-stocked "drink crate," and also houses a renowned natural history museum. Here, one can admire one of the most comprehensive collections of ancient artifacts, collected and curated over decades by the Bousfield family, owners of Jack's Camp.
High tea is enjoyed in the iconic Bedouin tent in the afternoons. The spa tent and swimming pool pavilion, including a sun deck, invite relaxation during siesta time.

The best time to travel
Jack's Camp is a rewarding destination throughout the year, but the two seasons could not be more different. In the dry season from April to October, the scorched landscape is enveloped in a shimmering white mirage. This is the time when, as a guest, you can zip across the pans on the back of a quad bike, sleep under the stars, and enjoy the salt desert in its most impressive state.
With the onset of rain in November, the pans transform into lush, emerald grassland until about mid-April. The animals are on the move, and the desert becomes an oasis teeming with life. Flocks of flamingos and migratory birds come to nest, and Africa's second-largest mammal migration of wildebeests and zebras floods the plains. The green season on the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans is one of Africa's great spectacles and a magical time to visit. Safari activities are similar during these months, but on many days, you can already observe wildlife from your veranda.
