The best time to travel
The annual rainfall transforms the dry desert landscape into a lush oasis of typical Kalahari vegetation, offering guests a unique insight into desert life.
Exploring the wildlife of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve is at the heart of the activities offered by Dinaka. Giraffes, antelopes, honey badgers, bat-eared foxes, and porcupines, as well as large predators like the famous black-maned Kalahari lion, cheetah, leopard, and brown hyena – guests can track a diverse range of wildlife.
The birdlife is particularly spectacular, with Dinaka hosting more than 200 different bird species, including the kori bustard and the crimson-breasted shrike, as well as a high concentration of pale-chanting gosshawks. Throughout the year, waterholes offer spectacular photo opportunities, either from the underground bunker, a special hide, or from the vehicle.
During guided bush walks with the San, visitors can also acquire fascinating insights into the harsh life in the Kalahari and the fascinating way of life of this ancient hunter-gatherer people. The perfect contrast to a stay in the Okavango Delta!
