Sleep-out
The vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans in north-eastern Botswana are a true natural wonder and a perfect place for sleeping under the open sky. Those who opt for a sleep-out in the surreal salt desert venture into the white infinity with a guide to set up camp for the night. This consists of nothing more than a sleeping mat and sleeping bag, laid out on the dusty, dry floor of the pans. Complete silence and the twinkling of the Milky Way are what make your sleep-out on the Makgadikgadi Pans so unique.
Sky Bed
Throughout southern Africa, there are numerous lodges that offer overnight stays in a "Sky Bed". This is a wooden platform erected in the middle of the wilderness several meters high, with a real bed on its deck. Walls and ceilings are nonexistent - instead, you sleep directly under Africa's breathtaking night sky. Your guide sets up his camp on the ground a few meters away. Upon request, overnight stays in the Sky Bed can also be combined with a delightful dinner or breakfast on the platform's deck.
