For your safari journey, we recommend comfortable clothing – even in upscale lodges, casual attire is appropriate. Due to significant temperature fluctuations, one must be prepared for both heat and cold at any time of the year. Nights and early mornings can be cool, so a warm outfit is suitable for these times.

Additionally, a head covering is necessary for the midday hours to protect against strong sunlight. White and bright colors should be avoided. Also, keep in mind that luggage weight should not exceed 20 kg per person.

Most lodges in Botswana offer complimentary laundry service.

Travel pharmacy

To be prepared for minor illnesses and emergencies, we recommend bringing a personal travel pharmacy. This should include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Motion sickness
  • Fever
  • Pain

as well as

  • Wound disinfectant
  • Insect repellent and sunscreen
  • Ointment for insect bites or other skin irritations
  • Thermometer

Of course, include any medications you regularly take. Also, consider malaria prevention and take medication as prophylaxis or carry standby medication. Consult your doctor for advice on health precautions before traveling.
