Climate and travel season

Due to its moderate climate, Botswana is a worthwhile destination at any time of the year. The peak season from July to October offers the best conditions for wildlife viewing, as the dryness attracts animals to the few water sources, and the sparse vegetation allows for excellent observations. However, it's worth noting that October, with temperatures reaching up to 45°C, is the hottest month.

Rain typically begins in late November and lasts until March. This period marks the low season for safaris as the onset of rain leads to dense vegetation, making animal sightings somewhat challenging. However, this time also sees the birth of many young animals, attracting numerous predators, and offers a paradise for bird lovers. It's essential to remember that seasons in the southern hemisphere are opposite to those in Europe: When it is summer in Europe it is winter in Botswana.
