Serowe - KHAMA III MEMORIAL MUSEUM TO KHAMA RHINO SANCTUARY – FOLLOWING THE TRAILS OF THE KHAMA FAMILY

Located in the eastern part of Botswana, Serowe sits approximately 300 kilometres north of Gaborone. It is home to around 50,000 residents (2011). Among its key attractions is the Khama III Memorial Museum, narrating the history of the Khama family, who were the leaders of the Bamangwato. Leapeetswe Khama provides his house, known as the "Red House," as the museum premises. The museum also features a growing natural history section, encompassing a large collection of African insects and snake species from the region.
