Tsodilo Hills - IMPRESSIVE ROCK PAINTINGS IN THE NORTHERN KALAHARI OF BOTSWANA

Tsodilo was once home to the Hambukushu and the San people, and even today, you can find rock paintings from both indigenous groups there. Tsodilo Hills is renowned globally for having one of the highest densities of rock paintings and is often referred to as the "Louvre of the Desert."

Most of the depictions of various animals, humans, and geometric patterns, drawn in white or red paint, were created between 800 and 1300 AD. The magic of these motifs invites visitors to linger and marvel at this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A San legend suggests that the largest of the four rocks represents the "Man," the smaller one the "Woman," and the smallest one the "Child." The fourth rock is said to be the man's first wife, whom he left for a younger woman.
