In the realm of Lions and Hyenas
Savute is located in the southwestern part of Chobe National Park and was once part of the vast Lake Makgadikgadi, which covered an area of about 100,000 km². Now, all that remains is a channel that is fed depending on the water level from the Selinda Spillway, eventually seeping into the Savute Marsh.

This water-thirsty area with its high sand ridges and volcanic hills is known for its large number of lions and hyenas, made famous by films like "Eternal Enemies" and BBC's "Planet Earth". In addition to various herbivores, wild dogs, leopards, and cheetahs can also be observed, and on the hills, known as "kopjes", you can find 4,000-year-old paintings by the Bushmen.
Game drives mainly take place in the four pans (Main Pan, Rhino Pan, Maribou Pan, Harvey’s Pan), which in winter are the only water source for miles around, attracting animals from far and wide and providing visitors with an excellent platform for hours of observation.
